The internationally acclaimed architectural firm GAO Architects was founded in Ljubljana in 1999 by Petra Zakrajšek, who even today continues to serve as its CEO and leading architect.
Our mission is to create a unique story about space, to breathe character into that space, and to find the red thread that transforms an apartment into a warm shelter, a business space into a company’s individual identity, or a ballroom into a second home.
One of our defining features is our openness to different ways of life and perceptions of the function and aesthetics of spaces. Each project offers us unique challenges that – as we combine the client’s wishes with our professional knowledge and expertise – always paves the way for the creation of light, furniture, colours, textures, materials and the indispensable visual image of the spaces. The implementation of each project is based on sincerity, trust and a deepened relationship with the client.

Petra is a seeker of truth, love and balance, who wanders the world in high heels. She loves people, the sea, the smell of rain on the market, cherries, and – above all – art in all its expressions and forms.

Tjaša is devoted to her family and her home, which always smells of fresh flowers. She is a lioness who likes to talk and likes to be convinced she’s right (at least most of the time).

Urška is a night owl who sips green tea instead of coffee. Amazed by the world’s capitals, she always finds herself dwelling somewhere between the Dragon’s Bridge and Stari Trg.

Her favourite days start with a dose of the "sunshine" vitamin. A girl who prefers creating to talking. Galleries help her escape from the noise, while thetre provides shelter from the world. She still can't reach the highest shelf, but one day, she will.
KARMEN ZORE

Karmen loves the sea and each of its many shades. If she could teleport herself to any place in the world, she would most likely be on the Greek island of Lefkas.
